  1. I built my 4th skin-on-frame kayak. This latest one is in the style of a South Greenland Qajaq. It's 18.5' long x 18.75" beam, and 27#'s. Traditional construction methods (pegs and lashings) hold it together with no modern fasteners. I'm trying to log as much time upside down on the water as I can. to <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/37_vGzaPWTw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>
  2. Maineboarder88, I'd prefer to sell as a complete binding setup, thanks.
  3. I've had tire kickers, but no takers so far. Now with lower price, edited above. Includes shipping, CONUS.
  4. TD2 step-in bindings with TD3 heel recievers, and zero and six degree cants with yellow rings. SOLD
  5. I think you've posted boards in front of a fireplace before, right? How about throwing a fireplace insert in there? (assuming you have access to cut/split wood, and don't mind it) We use one for probably 85% of our heating, with the furnace kicking on sometime in the middle of the night when the fire dies down. Very toasty and cheap to keep warm.
  6. I've been on UPZs for about 6 years. I really liked a pair of red 26M RSVs that I had, but they were a little too big. I downsized to a 25M RC10 this year for a tighter fit. I really like the boot and the super precision that the stock liner gives (zero heel lift, zero foot slop, much more control than before), but I can't stand that liner for more than 2 runs before I have to get out of the boots. So far, I've tried to make 3 liners work without success: the stock liners, new 25M red Speed liners, and my old 26M black Speed liners. Noticing the stock liner discomfort when I bought the boots, I ordered a new pair of 25M red Speed liners, and took them straight to a bootfitter to heat mold before the season began. He said they are too high volume for the boot (they bulge from the shell somewhat), and didn't even try to heat mold them. He said to stick with the stock "racing" liners, so I took his word for it and put the new Speeds back in the box. At the time, the worst part about the stock liners was pain around my ankles, so he ground out some of the shell. (That hadn't even been an issue when I "rug" tested the boots with my old 26M black Speed liners.) He also made custom footbeds for me. Now that the season has started, I've tried the stock liners on snow twice and have crazy pain in my arches, and something is up with my big toe that feels like it's sprained in that liner. Each time, I had to stop and throw my old 26M black Speed liners in to get through the day, which feels sloppy, but eliminates the pain. I need to do something, and I think the black Speed liners (even if got the proper size) are just too soft. I've love the have the stiffer red Speeds in there, but was told their volume would be an issue. Has anyone else used the red Speeds in UPZs?
  7. Glen, No problem shipping north. I sent you a message. Boardski, I don't know how much actual boot sizes vary relative to stated Mondo size between boot manufacturers, but someone with a typical size 8 shoe would swim in these.
  8. I'm striking out locally on finding some M5 stainless T-nuts to mount FinTecs to my UPZs. Any suggestions on who might carry them?
  9. bernie, Possibly later, but I'd like this to ride as a set for a while. RWeston, I tried to respond to your message, but your email address bounced back. I don't know whether the message alert from Bomber made it through to you or not. Post or send a message again to confirm.
  10. The corresponding shoe size is probably around 9.5. The best thing would be to measure your feet in cm, which correlates to Mondo size.
  11. UPZ RSV Boots with Intec Heels, Size 26. SOLD.
  12. JT, Best of luck getting after them. There are a couple of bucks I've had close encounters with this year, but haven't been able to connect. This is #2 of the season for me. I took the shot from my knees to snake an arrow beneath a tree limb, over a ball of vines, and through the heart. I could only see its head and neck, but thanks to a rainbow trajectory, I was able to make the shot. Same selfwood osage bow and arrow set. ("Sights? We don't need no steenkeen sights!")
  13. Congrats JT! At 4 yards, your heart must have been really been pounding. That's great. Here's a doe that I killed just yesterday morning, while hiding at the base of large tree cluster. I used an osage selfbow that I just finished up a couple of months ago and a 725 grain ash arrow. (Not into sights, let alone "fricken lasers".)
  14. Update; I ended up getting RC-10s in a 25M. Much better fit. Just one snug finger now. I spent the better part of the evening in and out of them now. Nice and snug. These will be much better. :D The RC-10s are a nice improvement over the RSV's, too. The plastic tongue is longer and seems like it will hold the power strap instead of the too-short RSV tongue that lets the strap ride up onto your liner or shin right away. The stock liners have taken a huge leap over what they were as well, but still aren't great, IMO. Heel hold down with them seems excellent, as in zero lift. But, they allow ankle pain where the ankles press hard against the shell, near the hinge. I'm not fond of the liner tongue (edges tend to bite into the top of foot) or the shortish side height either. I stuffed my 26M black Speed liners into the 25M shells for comparison. No ankle pain with those, but the heel lift returns. I'm just debating now whether to ride the stock liners (they actually "are" better than I expected) to see if I can stand them or not mess around and jump into properly sized Red Speeds or possibly Intuition Power Wraps. The Speeds are nice and tall, which I love, and the black ones were quite comfortable, but I worry they may not do much for heel hold down, even if properly sized. The Intuitions look more contoured to an actual foot and so I suspect they may have better heel hold down. I've never seen a pair of those, though, and can only guess at that, on height, and comfort.

    To stink bugs:

I had never even heard of a stinkbug until a few years ago. Then without warning, they seemed to explode across PA. What brought them to Allentown (?) and caused them to fan out? Yes, the reak!!!
  16. Slopestar, My feets measure 25.9 and 26.2 cm. Shoe size is usually 9-ish, sometimes a little bigger depending on manufacturer. The boots don't feel too sloppy on greens or gentler blues. It really shows up on faster blues and blacks though, actually to a frightening point as if my feet were bashing around inside an empty shell. Amazing how the difference in speed/power amplifies this. There was a thread a while back on "race boot fit", which was pretty enlightening. http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=28424&highlight=boot+bit I've played with the buckles, and after a certain point, I can see the boot is just squashing down and out, an no longer in and together. Just creates pressure points on the top of the foot. My gut is that I really need to be in new boots to be happy this season. I put an email into Dan Yoja for sizing advise, thinking 24 or 25M. We'll see. Thicker replacement liners aren't off the table since they would certainly be cheaper.
  17. Hoping to get some input from the boot experts on a fit problem and solution. Boots: UPZ RSVs, size 26.0M (Overall, love the boot, especially since my wide feet are often problematic to fit.) Empty Shell Fit: 2 fingers overlapped between heel and empty shell (1-1/8" to 1-1/4") Liners: Black Speed Issue: Heel lift and foot slop, especially at speed and during board chatter (bad enough to actually be scary sloppy at high speed on blacks) Tried: Black speed liners (worked for a while, but now packed out), and cranking buckles way down, which only seems to squash the shell and not really draw it together...creates pain on top of foot, too. Solutions? (looking for input here): replacing liners again with thicker Red Speeds (cheaper, but possibly only another temporary fix?) or getting new UPZs in a smaller 25.0M size (ie; one finger shell fit) and new liners.
  18. I've been perfectly happy with $15 Head gloves from Costco. Bonus is this year they made them with an even longer gaunlet. :)
  19. I'm very partial to my Dodge Dakota Quad Cab (4.7L V8, 4WD). I bought new 7 years ago (2003) and it's been great. Sized "just right", IMO. Not a full sized tank, yet certainly not a toy. Our garage is pretty average and fits that and our Odyssey fine, with plenty of walking room between the bumper and the back wall. Roomy up front and in the back seats. Add a locking cap and you've got safe snowboard storage. 185 cm boards fit fine diagonally in the bed. You might even squeeze a 200 cm deck in there. As always, a stick shift makes it even more funner. :) I bought it with the full intent of driving it until the wheels fall off. When that day comes (not in the foreseeable future), I'll likely buy another. In fact, I had a 1998 Dakota Club Cab prior to this, which was also great, until I decided to upgrade to the Quad Cab with a full back seat. A Durango might work for you, too, if a Dakota is still too long.
  20. Don't play, but in 24 hours, I'll be groovin' with this guy... playin' with these guys... Oh yeah, can't wait. Stop baby, what's that sound everybody look what's goin' down (...ba-woooom...)
