  1. Thanks for checking in guys. Pat I ride like 54x49 so we can check that off. I believe Im hurting this season cause of the lack of gym time. Yes dead lifts can be bad if done wrong. Doing them right can get to many muscles that are weak in normal life. Thats where Im at I think. I rode Snowbird in December and didnt have a back issue, came back and did ZERO training, its like someone glued a huge sheet of velcro on my ass and stuck me to the couch. Im betting my glutes and the backs of my legs are so weak in comparison thats part of it as well. The nice ring of fat around my waist cant be helping. I dont want to think about saying good bye but if I cant get this under control I wont have a choice.

  2. Have any others here had back Issues from carving. I know during the season my back hurts and summer not so much. In 2006 I bulged a disc carving hard on a Madd at MT Snow and it blew a month later causing surgery and nerve damage in my right leg. This season I have not been able to follow my usual winter gym routine and Im in major pain the day after I ride.

Anyone got some magic they can share

  3. Well maybe not since its Coilers but for the past few times out I have been on my AM vsr 168 and thinking its great. Today I went back to my 177 Freecarve vsr  and Holy chit it was amazing. I have not rode for the whole month so I expected to be a bit rusty, 3 turns in and I was right back to killin it from edge to edge. So I guess Im fickle as a school girl when it comes to my boards. Glad I limit my quiver to 2 boards :freak3:

    Does this happen to you.

  4. Cool story, Im envious of your friends softboot skills and for years wished I had done more on soft before I went alpine. He might be a candidate for the Pureboarding style since they advocate more tricks and such. Softbooters might be more comfortable with the lower back foot so they can still have some kick turns. To me its more natural to have the front foot up the board and the back lower. I look forward to seeing his progress but worry he will be better than many of in short order

  5. Tthe 168 AM  VSR, most versatile board I own. Took it in extreme bumps at Snowbird, carves the steeps, and plays really well in spring or variable snow condish. If its a day of cruising the mountain with a diverse group some carve some not this is the board Im comfortable on no matter what the trail. If its just a carve day on groomers Im riding my 177 VSR Freecarve the cousin of Nirvana but lately I have put it away around lunch and went to the AM due to its versatility.  A review I did a while ago here, http://forums.bomberonline.com/index.php?/topic/36596-coiler-amt-vsr-168-asym-core/

  6. Sorry guys I was not able to be with you. I have been struggling with some nerve issues in my leg from a previous back surgery. Even as I type this it feels like theres a cinderblock on my foot. Im hoping to get some answers this week but didnt think it would be wise to come a turn with you.

  7. Since the day I went to work on this all I have been thinking about is hip rotation. When I watch videos on EC and PB the hip rotation on heal side is huge. I can almost get my hips square across the board but lack of flexibility is making it harder for me. Its defiantly going to take me some time to get my body used  to assuming that hip position but Im gonna get there.
