I was wondering if the hard boot helped or hurt in my situation(s). Haven't been thrilled with the fit of my Deeluxe boots for a while. I've been riding them pretty loose lately. Anyway, since it seems that my current boots are jinxed, I'm thinking about trying UPZs.
  2. Thanks for posting. Something to review and think about during recovery.

I'll jump in here too as I fractured the medial malleolus on my rear foot at the end of my second day (Thursday afternoon), on Standard, on an easy toeside turn. For some unknown reason, the board washed out. I was sliding on my belly looking uphill and I didn't react fast enough. The board hit the ground and that was it. I knew it was broken because it felt exactly like the last time I broke this same ankle, on my fifth run at the 2010 ECES. Not as painful four years ago. I was able to ride down the hill and walk to the clinic. I'm getting a few screws installed on Friday as this is the second fracture in that area and want to make sure that joint is stable for future turns. I had a blast for the two days. I enjoyed the clinics (thanks Ian and Eric Beckman). Also enjoyed the demos. Sorry I missed out on Friday and Saturday but there's always next season. Tony M
  4. Looking for a 6 degree cant disk (TD2/TD3). I have a 0 degree I don't use so could trade also.
  5. I have a 6 degree I can trade for a 3 degree.
  6. I agree. After my first two years on an Alp and Ultra Prime, I picked up a metal Coiler All Mountain. The difference is almost unbelievable. My Coiler grips so much better. Everything about it allows me to push harder, ride faster and have way more fun. It allowed me to progress from a skidder to a carver over night. I have no regrets with the metal Coiler purchase.
  7. Thanks everyone. Was a little too excited this morning. Too much speed on a heelside in a bumpy section. Mostly user error and a little bad luck. Live and learn. I did get in a few good runs before the accident. Got to demo a VSR too. I choose to be optimistic about recovery. I'll do whatever it takes. I was thinking the same about the biking being good PT. I usually mountain bike but it looks like the road bike will get some miles this spring.
  8. First day at ECES today and I broke my medial malleolus. Doctor here thinks it will need a few screws. It's a bummer but I've had a great season so that softens the blow a bit. The hard part will be sitting here for two more days and waiting while my friends ride.
  9. I cracked a new helmet on the last run the first day I used it. Took it back to the store I bought it from and they replaced it on the spot. No questions asked, just handed me a new one. I'm not sure if that's typical. I didn't ask. It's worth a try.
  10. Amen to that! After riding my new metal Coiler AMT all season, I pulled the old board out and put it away after one run. I'm having way more fun this season.
  11. Any update on the dates for this? I guess with ECES coming up all thoughts are on that.
  12. teach, Chris doesn't get on BOL too often but I was talking to him today (ECES planning). He said he had the Coiler tuned at Buckman's a while ago ago but doesn't remember what the edge angles were tuned to. Sorry about that. Maybe one of the more experienced guys (Chubz, JBS, etc.) can make a recommendation or email Bruce to see what he says.
  13. I was with Mike today. There will be four HB at ECES and one SB. We'll be there Wed through Fri. I tried to get Mike to head to Blue tomorrow (Saturday) but it didn't work out. I'll be there at opening tomorrow with my son. If you're there, look for the guy with a big grin riding the new Coiler. Tony
  14. Depending on the conditions report, I thinking about heading up to Blue on Sunday with my son. Already hit Windham last Saturday and am heading there again on Friday. I really enjoyed riding my new Coiler AMT. It's a nice upgrade. Looking forward to ECES and BMES this year.
  15. UPS dropped off my new Coiler two weeks ago and I'm really looking forward to riding it. I'm in for BMES. Anyone here planning to head up to ECES? I've got five guys in my group lined up for it. Should be fun.
  16. Sorry if I missed this but what are the dates for ECES?
  17. Great pics. Wow, do I have a lot to practice on form-wise... pinch the pencil, pinch the pencil... Looking forward to next season and getting more coaching.
  18. Another thanks out to Greg for pulling this together. It was fun riding with a new group. As a relative newcomer, it was awesome to see different styles and to get new tips first hand. I also have some major board envy. I'm looking forward to a new Coiler next year. It will be fun looking through the pictures. I'm hoping there is one worthy of setting to my avatar. See you guys on the hill... Tony
