  1. Please see my post under the Coaching tab. I'm teaching an intermediate alpine lesson tomorrow and need a good list of tips before noon, if possible. Thanks!
  2. I've been riding alpine boards for years but I've never gotten great at it. However, I have the unique opportunity to teach someone tomorrow. I had no warning that I'd get this assignment until 4pm today so I'm doing some homework tonight to make sure I have some value to share with my client for his 3-hour lesson tomorrow afternoon. If you guys wouldn't mind sharing a few tips that really helped you get over the "purgatory" intermediate stage, by all means, write me up some bullet points below. I imagine we'll be working a lot on stance and getting clean heelside turns without sticking our butts out all weird haha. If you could right down a few pointers, drills, analogies or concepts below before noon tomorrow 12/17 (Tuesday), that would the best Christmas gift this forum has ever given me! I'm a certified softboot instructor and I'm guessing my client has a background in both skiing and softboot snowboarding so maybe you can draw some comparisons to those for me. Thanks, Ian
  3. Keith, The boots you bought should be arriving tomorrow, I'd imagine. They were accepted at the post office Tuesday the 16th at 8am... I sent them Priority so yeah, they should be there this weekend at the latest. Let me know if they don't show up soon.
  4. The post will be removed once I have received my payment and processed it... to the purchaser: we spoke on the phone and I gave you my address but neglected to give you a name lol... I'm Ian Jay
  5. Okay so I checked at the post office this morning and I can ship the boots to you in Toronto from here (Denver) via USPS Priority Mail Int'l for $40. So if you wire me 120, I'll send 'em your way asap! Cheers
  6. okay, i'll take these to the post office or UPS or FedEx and get some exact specs on how much these will ship for from Denver to Toronto... I'm not trying to rip you off on shipping, simply doing my best on guestimating.
  7. Yeah that's a good point. I just saw a guy using these boots at Winter Park not more than 3 weeks ago. I checked with Jenifer at Donek- she's an expert on international shipping. She's pretty sure I can ship the boots for 40-50 USD... I can get these in the mail as soon as you'd like... I really could use the money for rent ha.
  8. You can always spray-paint them or wear long riding pants haha.
  9. Yep, I would agree with that. I wear 9.5 US Men's in street shoes and my Mondo size is 27.
  10. I bought these boots from a semi-pro racer last year. They are a bit too big for me and i never got around to fitting them with Fin-Tec heel kits so they've sat quietly in a closet for a while. I have tried the boots on twice in the last year and have never ridden them. They seem to be in great shape, are a softer boot so if you like to ride mellower angles and do more freeride, all mountain types of alpine riding, i've been told by experts that these boots are for you. I was also told that they are no longer carried by Raichle and that may or may not add value to the boots for you. I can validate my reliability as a responsible online buyer and seller. I have a 100% postitive feedback on eBay and can have Fin with Bomber or Sean with Donek vouch for me. I'll take 80 dollars for them and you can pay however you like, cash if you're in the Denver area, mail a check, paypal... If I need to ship the boots, we'll discuss that later. Thanks! ian.donek @ gmail
  11. I have some used Raichles that I never used last year. I purchased them second-hand for 90 bucks. They are functional; very adequate but too big for me. I will take your best offer with little consideration!

  13. for two days, I rode the razor at +35 and +20 and it was more freeridey the finaly two days, I rode the razor at +45 and +25 = much better overall and I stayed with the same stance width of 20.5 inches and a six-inch setback
  14. This board is siiiiiiiiick! Best board ever. Like Sean last year, I jammed it down all of Aspen's mtns for an entire week. You ask? I tried it. Evvvverywhere and it passed with flying colours. I took the 170 thru the park with a 20.5 alpine stance in soft boots and technine Mark Frank bindings you don't get much more freestyle steeze than that. daha anyway, hit every last feature of Buttermilk's infamous terrain parks on that thing. Rails, kickers, wall rides, tables, jibs, bonks, everything. Great board. Then, I decided to tackle the 45-degree steeups of highlands and do some extreme backcountry-esque maneuvers on it. I live at Mary Jane (not literally, just work) - so it goes without saying that I have a love affair with bumps. The 170 was surprisingly maneuverable and oh-soo-steady at high speeds, in the pipe, park, steeps, trees, bumps. Lastly, of course being there for SES, I really did try to keep up with Fin, Brian, Mark, Sean and all the manufacuterers. The boards did so well railing carves that I didn't even get that tired. It may look wide, but it has an incredibly rapide edge transistion and holds the turn with the best of them. You can really get up very vert on that edge too. Overall - Sean, thanks for helping me improve my riding, style and mechanics more exponentially than I ever dreamed possibly after just four and a half days of riding! 10/10 - buy yours today - Donek.com Razor board
  15. Hey guys, This is ian with Donek. It was a pleasure getting to know many of you better this past week up in Aspen for the SES. Great turnout! Great turns! Even as the oddball young guy, I really enjoyed all of your tremendously unique and passionate attitude towards our sport of hardbooting! That being said, let's make this an underground uprising. I'm talking out guerilla marketing, on snow demos, free clinics and youth camps. I want to spearhead this in my realm of influence - the Front Range so WP, Loveland, ABay and Summit County (where Fin and Michelle and Laura are currently located) A number of years back Sean of Donek convinced me to try out a Pilot 157 with TD2 plates at a session - it was a bluebird day the highlands and the last thing I wanted to do was be one of those silly carving machines. I wanted to head over to snowmass or buttermilk and park session! But I don't knock till I try and once I made that first turn and felt the Gs, I was hooked. It really progressed my riding too. Snowboarders in America need to know that this is not just the next fad. This is the way a snowboard was meant to be ridden, edged turns, not skidded, using the turn shape and angulation to control your speed, etc. We need to show Colorado that Euro-carving and recreational freecarving is a) fun! b) safe c) easy to get into That being said, if you are at Winter Park a lot or actually work there like me, please please please give me a call and let's go grap a corona at Coffee/Tea after work today...4pm

  17. Anybody willing and able to meet me in about two hours outside in front of my condo? I'm staying at the Donek house in Aspen Glen which is near the Carbondale/Glenwood turn (right turn if you're heading to Aspen) - we're probably 30 min away. I'm willing to give you an old banana in return or at least rail some carves with you on the steeps up in Aspen with the First Tracks group this morning. I'd come on my own, but I don't think Sean would be happy to wake up at 9 today to find the van gone. And i have no idea what the bus system is like around here... Now, a much larger dilemma: getting home later. Since I'm a hobo, I usually just hitch/carpool around the state - like for instance, I Greyhounded it here from Vail on Monday...but toting a load of alpine gear this time makes that difficult. Sean and Jenifer aren't leaving Carbondale till late morning Saturday. I need to be at Winter Park by 9am Saturday morning. Anyone leaving here after the banquet tonite or leaving here before 7am tomorrow? Let me know on both accounts, fellow 'boot3rs. thanks! okay that's all the schpiel. 19. I'm just trying to orchestrate my transportation situation into a model that sees me arriving at Aspen sometime Monday night or Tuesday...but yeah, really want to join you guys up there for this week and am counting on it...just need that ride...
  20. I am looking to get up to Aspen this week ASAP!!! I won't need a return lift as I am trying to connect with the Donek/Bomber guys for the Summit Expression Session (SES). We'll be up hardbooting (alpine snowboard racing) for the week. Come join us if you want to ride plates or already know how! Anyway, as I've been thinking about it, just getting a lift to BeaverCreek would be nice too...then, I could probably have a buddy from Aspen run down and take me the rest of the way from there. Either way, looking for a ride to Vail, BC, or all the way to Glenwood/Carbondale/Aspen asap! Many thanks! ~ian 303.902.4778
