    Lost...

I just moved to Seattle. Any suggestions on riding, hanging out, mischief, ect.?
  9. Any details on the tanker? Year? Pics? Shipping to 98275? Flex okay for experienced 230lb rider? Thanks.
  10. Thanks for the info. Foot measures 29. I'm in my third pair of sz 28 boots,so I'm happy with the size, but still need liners.
  11. I could really use new liners, but my liners are size 28. Can anybody tell me if I'll get a decent fit from molding a slightly larger liner into my existing boot? Shells are AF600, upper is stamped 28-30.5, lower boot is stamped 325/28.5 on the inside and 309mm on the outside. Thanks, Trip
  12. I know a guy who is a real aggressive and proficient downhill skater. He just moved west and has never been on snow. I sent him carving pics, links to bol, carvers almanac, etc. He's into it, but on a budget. I expect him to focus his efforts on hardboots and possibly teach himself. I've already recommended helmet, wristguards, a beater board and extra patience. Is there any other advice I should offer?
  13. Ok, I just looked at the map. Runs 1-7, 15, 27 and 28 are inaccessable. That's a lot more than 2 runs. Another thought. Now that the skiers have their own runs, the snowboarding majority should take every opportunity to tell the skiers exactly where they should ski. Trying to stay positive, but this does stink. Some snobs might get their way, but this policy will only rekindle all that ugly skier/snowboarder animosity from the early days. That BS can be a real buzzkill for the average recreational hill user and eventually turn people away. Resorts tried things like this in the early days and ultimately found that it was bad for business.
  14. Pick a crowded day, rent/demo some shaped skis, go out there and friggin OWN those runs like the carver that you are. When they bust you for cutting off skiers, just tell them you're really a snowboarder, but you took up skiing due to the new policies and found that skis turn waay better than any snowboard. A fatality is a big deal. Maybe some skiers got together and used the situation to limit traffic on their favorite runs. Never waste a crisis, right? Seriously, I'm interested in what really happened. I would make the argument that they could improve safety for everyone by keeping out of control skiers/boarders in check. Just hope they don't confuse "out of control" with riding fast. Limiting runs to ski traffic is a radical move, but the hill may need to demonstrate to it's insurers, etc. that it has taken significant steps to improve safety. This caught my attention because I was wondering where I would ride if I move to Oshkosh. I'll do some more research on bol and maybe look forward to sharing the hill with some fellow carvers this season.
  15. Don't mess with the branding. People identify the logo and the font with a great handcrafted product. Please continue to use those elements or some recognizable derivative.
  16. I'm interested in the boots. Do you have any pics? What color are they?
  17. Can anyone tell me what size boot I should be shopping for? Better question, what boots will have the right size shell? I've been in a LeMans boot for a few seasons and I'm happy with the fit. I don't know if they're 28 or 30. My thermoflex liners say 28, boot lowers have "28-28.5" molded inside the ankle and "303mm" molded outside just above the heel, inside of cuff says "28-30.5", inside of tongue says "28-29-30". Thanks, Trip
  18. I've been in a LeMans boot for a few seasons. Always wanted to try the AF. My question is, Is the shell the same size as my current boot? My thermoflex liners say 28, boot lowers have "28-28.5" molded inside the ankle and "303mm" molded outside just above the heel, inside of cuff says "28-30.5", inside of tongue says "28-29-30". I'm happy with the fit. I've probably answered my own queston here, but can anyone tell me what size I should be shopping for? Better question, what boots will have the right size shell? Thanks, Trip
  19. Handing out rewards on the basis of need and not merit is bad mojo. (Comrades may disagree.) The big three still sell a lot of cars, but not enough to cover their expenses. It's a management problem. Ford recognized it's excess capacity two years ago and began to scale back. To deliberately reduce market share was a gutsy move. It turns out they were on the right track, but it's an evil process and labor is often involved in the business decision of each cut shift or closing. Regarding expenses. Has anybody tracked health care insurance cost or revenue over the last ten years? Something else to consider. Partnership for Next Generation Vehicle PNGV. Clinton era incentive to the big three to produce a realistic 80mpg car that could be in production by 2008. I think Chrysler hit the mark and Ford and Gm came in at about 78mpg. All used diesel elec hybrid technology. Bush came along and replaced that program with one to develop hydrogen fuel cell technology. So the 80mpg car gets shelved for a hydrogen car that's still decades away.
  20. I'm taking a few weeks (maybe more) to go ride. Can anybody recommend good short term housing in Utah? Thanks.
