  1. For Sale: Lightly used Skwal with PHK step-in bindings. Probably not more than 12 days use, I never really got the hang of it. Asking $500 with the bindings, local pick up in Needham, MA or plus shipping. Skwal: Edges are clean and sharp, base has no gouges and fresh wax. There is a 2" scratch in topsheet. Length 171 cm, Waist 11.5 cm, Sidecut 10 mm Bindings: PHK SKW F12 fixed 5* ramp angle with step in heels. I did modify the toe bails very slightly to better fit my boots by grinding with a dremel, if you look closely you should be able to see it in the photos.
  2. Looks like Skwaler Mac has narrowed OS2's...you can get a good look at them at the 30 second mark of this clip
  3. It's definitely an odd company. Seems like they put a lot of energy into setting it up but little effort at all into running it. I did some research on them before buying my stick off ebay because I was worried the whole thing was just a scam. The registered owner out of Ft Lauderdale seems to be more in the restaurant/night club business and has his name affiliated with as many as 14 companies on file with the Florida secretary of state. The ski is nice though, made in Austria, looks like high quality construction to me. It has angled sidewalls so the waist is only 10.5 cm across the topsheet. I wish I had some other experience on a skwal to compare it to but this is my first and only one. After my first day on it I decided I better get in the gym and do some crunches because it takes a lot of core to ride it...the harder I sent it out on edge the harder and faster it rockets back across the fall line and launches into the next turn...almost launched me into the woods a few times my first day out.
  4. xjm aki @ yahoo.com <-no spaces.....Thanks! Ace I'm sure can make it out to BEast once or twice, I like it out in W. Mass.
  5. Don do you have any pictures of your modified Cateks? It looks like most of the width of the baseplate is just an angle setting guide and not anything structural? Also it looks like Catek sells a polycarbonate spacer for binding point protection.
  6. Thanks for the replies...yes my board is very narrow, it's only 11.5 at the base and with the angled sidewalls it's only 10.5 at the topsheet. That's something I was really concerned with about the TD3. Does anyone use the PHK bindings? Those *look* considerably narrower but I haven't seen any actual dimensions, also it doesn't seem like they're easy to buy in the US? I'll start looking at Cateks too. Rob, I might have to make a trip to Loon! It would be cool to follow around a more experienced rider...I have a weekday pass at Wachussett and spend most of my weekend time in S. VT at Magic or Killington mainly.
  7. Hi I'm pretty new to the Skwal and psyched to get more time on it this upcoming year. Last spring I bought a beautiful new SkwalUSA Carver 171, but I didn't have the funds for the rest of the gear so I just rode it with some snowblade bindings and a pair of ski boots. That was OK but with the stiffish boots and the 0* rear foot angle it wasn't very comfortable. But the Skwal is a BLAST! It really does corner like a sportbike...so much fun! For this year I've already picked up some UPZ RC-10's with Intec heels and am now looking at bindings...I'm leaning toward the Bomber TD3 step ins with 6* rear cant and probably 3* front. How does that sound?
