I'm planning on first chair, or close Thursday. White pants, black coat, if you are looking for company.

Yo Lci!!

I'm in town from Chicago and looking to ride Thursday. Is anyone going to be out Thursday ? Any secret spots to pick up discounted lift tickets ? King Soopers ?
3. I have a pair of Swingers that I just can't throw away. The right arm (?) (stem?) is broken, and I've had no luck finding a replacement. At this point I don't care about color or condition, I just want to be able to wear my Arnettes again. Any suggestions ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
4. So I found this shirt at the bottom of the pile recently, and it made me think of this thread. Maybe it is time for a BomberOnline edition of the TWSnowboarding shirt from 1995 or so. It is hard to believe how recently people were asking questions about snowboarding that today they ask about alpine/racing/hardbooting equipment. #5 no, I don't use softboots anymore.
5. My apologies. KESSLER/APEX. Initial post corrected.
6. Does anyone have any inside info on the new Kessler/Apex equipment they are teasing photos of on Facebook ? Or do I just have to wait for an official description from Kessler/Apex ?
7. I'm trying to decide where to take my 7 year old for her first day snowboarding. I don't expect to spend more than a couple of hours out on the snow, and ideally I'd like to go to a place that will not hassle me about a lift ticket if I am just on the bottom of the hill walking up far enough to do some side-slipping and maybe figuring out how to turn. Any thoughts ?
8. Bill, It's been a few years, but I thought I would send you a note since I was hoping to make a trip up there for some boarding on Saturday , Feb 23rd. I was hoping to get an honest report on the conditions and what the weather might be like between now and then. Thanks in advance for any info you can share. Jason

11. From the link below : " ...why shouldn’t you be able to snap on a pair of Audi skis? You may soon have the chance, given the reported success of the German automaker’s experiment with its Audi Carbon Ski concept. Designed and developed at Audi Concept Design in Munich, the downhill skis were created in collaboration with specialists from ski-making company Head, and the German Ski Association. The result is an ultra-lightweight ski that is said to offer premium performance." http://www.gizmag.com/audi-carbon-ski-concept/17857/
12. This may have been posted already. I hadn't seen it, and thought I would share anyway.... http://jeremyjones.net/2008/09/the-origin-of-snowboarding-discovered/
13. Wondering if anyone has made any turns at granite peak yet this year ? Is there tension in the air ?
14. So, does this mean 4 men halfpipe, 4 women halfpipe, 4 men SBX, 4 women SBX, leaving only 2 spots for PGS ???? The info below from ---------- ---http://snowboarding.transworld.net/photos/events/the-olympics-are-coming/ "Olympic Starts: In order to have four available USA start spots for halfpipe, there must be four USA riders in the Top 40 of the FIS World Rank List. (Top 30 for the women). This list runs for about 1.5 seasons. The dates of the list are Jan 18, 2009 - Jan 18, 2010. This is similar to the process they used in 2002. “It makes each country earn their start spots so that the most competitive nations make it to the Olympics, and so that every small nation in the world can’t just enter people in whatever event.” Then, our nation’s qualification process is the same as it has been. There are 5 Grand Prix events and based on each rider’s Top 2 results, a Grand Prix rank list is created. If the USA ends up with 4 men and 4 women in the World Rank List mentioned above, then the U.S. can enter up to that many riders in the Olympics for halfpipe.
These are the 5 Grand Prix pipe events:

December 11-12, 2009 Copper Mountain, CO January 5-6, 2010 Mammoth, CA December 8-9, 2010 Mammoth, CA January 22, 2010 Park City, UT January 23, 2010 Park City, UT
And these are just for pipe. There are five qualifiers for each discipline(find the schedule for the others here). Jankowski adds that “Each nation can enter a maximum of 18 people between all of the snowboarding disciplines—halfpipe, snowboard cross, parallel giant slalom—the number of people we enter in each event is based on how internationally competitive we are in that event (i.e. medal chances). So each discipline needs to earn those start spots by having people ranked in the Top 40/30 in the FIS World Rank List. If we have more than 18 people eligible between all of the disciplines, then we have to look at which disciplines we are the most competitive in and name our team based on that. Based on the last Olympics, we would likely enter 4 men and 4 women in halfpipe then look at SBX, then ALP.” Keep in mind that the results and positioning for each individual, as well as national teams are all still undecided at this time. Place your bets! Seriously, though, keep yourself updated on the Olympic selection process, right here. Stay tuned."

17. As someone who lived at a resort in N.H., lived close (2hrs) to the BIG 3 in Colorado, and now lives in Chicago, I would have no problem with the above scenario. Maybe I would squeeze the fun out of the sport.....after 25-30 years. That works for me.
18. Bill and any and all others, We have nailed down a date and will be at Granite peak Sunday, Dec. 2nd. 3 guys: one will definitely be on a factory prime 167 (his only board); another will definitely be wearing white pants. Hope to run into some other carvers there. :D
19. I plan on making a trip to Granite Peak in early December. Never been, and was looking for info on recommended runs. Or any other info I should be aware of. Only been to Devil's Head in the Midwest. New Englander who relocated to CO and then IL. Thanks
