  1. Posted 3.5 hours ago. I got dibs. Is this some incarnation of the Supercross? http://denver.craigslist.org/spo/899174732.html ???
  2. Last season only about 12 of 50 riding days were on HBs. I need cord, TONS of sun, a fast crew, and nobody on the trail for HB days to happen. I still ride 30/20 (F/R) angles on my softies and like to think I trench it out at least *somewhat* on those days too.
  3. Mistake 1: Somebody already brought up the Tahoe point. Mistake 2: I was ASKING if it was Kidwell's collection. NOBODY said it was. Next time, READ THE DISCUSSION and try not to break your knees with your DUCKED 34" STANCE. I think I saw the auction end with 0 bids.
  4. here's the link... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=360097467706 or just search ebay for: 360097467706 The seller says in the text of the ad... "The Kidwell is my personal board that I rode at the '86 worlds in Breckenridge" I already shot the seller a question asking "Who are you" and have gotten no reply. Maybe someone with more tact than I could muster a try. Sweetens the deal if you get to shake a legend's hand on pickup.
  5. The SEASON is officially ON! YEAH! HAHAHAHAH!!! http://www.arapahoebasin.com/ABasin/snow-conditions/web-cams.aspx Anybody going to be at the Basin on Saturday? DAMN that was a long summer.
  6. That's kind of whack. They're opening early so they can say they were the first? A-basin should just start spinning lifts at 4am so they can say they were the first. What's next, trucking in snow from the Yukon so as to open August 25th?
  7. I'd say they can stay in the garage, but I'd be afraid for my truck.
  8. I'm reluctant. We've got one in the house already... I'm going to give a preliminary 'no' on that unless it's a toy dog. Sorry.
  9. The place is about 2200 square feet. There are 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths. 2 of the bedrooms have queens and 1 has a twin bunk. The downstairs living room has a pullout queen. We're going to take 9 in the house and we've already got 7. We're all professional 30 somethings living in Denver/Boulder. Last year we averaged about 5 people at the place on any given weekend, so it's rarely crowded. Only one of the gals in the pic is still around. The other 2 got kicked off the team. Thanks, Greg
  10. This guy is like 2 blocks from me and only wants $60 for the thing. Can anybody ID this plank? Anyone ever rode hard or soft setup on it? I'm 185 lbs on a lean week... enough board for that much weight? Here's the current post... http://denver.craigslist.org/spo/855343347.html
  11. BTW, we've got 2 spots left as of this post. Thanks
  12. Me and my crew get a spot in the high country every year so we don't have to worry about things like "traffic" or "not being able to get to the hill". The one we got last year was plush as hell, so we're doing it again. Here's the spiel I've been sending to interested heads. Email me for more pictures. Frisco is about 2 hours from Aspen, so it's not a viable option for SES. Random Deets: ------------- Full kitchen, wood burny FP, private hottub on the glassed in porch, 3 full baths, 2 living rooms, 20 foot cathedrals, natty wood beams, leather leany chairs. The place is 5 minutes off the highway, and probably a 10 minute walk to downtown Frisco. Payment: ------------- Nov 1, 2008 through May 1, 2009 = 6 months. 350/month * 6 months = $2100. I'm asking everyone to PLEASE get me $1050 ASAP, and I'll need the remaining $1050 by Jan 1, payable to Greg Johnson or Andrew Fairbairn. I'm going to fill slots on a "first come, first served" basis. Giving me a check is the only way to guarantee a spot in the house. Thanks if I already have yours. Parking: ------------- Space for 5 cars off street including one in the garage. We might have to juggle now and then. Guests: ------------- Please let everyone know as soon as possible when you'd like to bring up a guest. Guest policy is $40/night/head for Friday and Saturday nights, $30 for midweek. Money taken in from guest fees will go back into the house. Discounts for multi-night stays, or if you contribute (ie, cook me a big plate of lasagna). Additional fees apply if you bring up jerks or sons of bitches. Hottub: ------------- No coitus in the hottub... or glass. You can't have glass or sex on the porch. D and I will end up doing a few drain and fills this season. Let's keep it plush and shard free out there.
  13. Opening day runs... A-basin opened Oct 9 last season and I'm pretty sure they beat Lovey. I was there on Oct 10, but wouldn't have taken the hard boots out that day if a gun was to my head. I remember taking the lift back DOWN the hill at Keystone at the end of the day until about Dec 1. Whack. All that potential energy gone to waste. They seem to take their time getting that last headwall open at Keys. Pics are from the first few days of the season last year. They're in MMDDYYhhmm format. < edit: top to bottom dates 10/11, 10/11, 10/12 > Place to stay for your trip... I've got a winter share in Frisco. $40/night/head. Less for midweek. Email me if you're interested. I'm also going to post some details about that on another thread here shortly.
  14. Enjoy! http://noweddings.com/ Greg
  15. Helmet cams are still in their infancy in terms of capability. The lipstick sized units like Viosport provide the best resolution (520 lines?), but are just lenses, and so require an actual video camera in your back pack to feed the signal to. SD or Flash memory cameras (if they even shoot 30 fps) will be even worse resolution, but don't require an additional capture device. I've had the best luck just using beater hand held mini-DV cameras. I had a Sony HC-46 for about 3 years that blew me away by the abuse it would take. Yeah, it's a bit more unwieldy than something the size of a lipstick, but you get better resolution, peripheral features like image stabilization, on hill review, better audio... I've commonly used the tripod hole on the bottom of the cam to mount it. Just go to Home Depot with your beater cam, find the metric section and grab a hex bolt that fits. Since they tend to be top heavy, consider flipping the thing upside down and just rotating the picture in post production. Good luck and post the footage here!
  16. I had a feeling SES was going to be cool as hell, and I wasn't disappointed. Maybe next year I'll get more than 2.1 days in before an injury sends me back to Denver. Didn't get to shoot nearly as much video as I would have liked, but I did get 45 minutes worth at the 2 clinics on Sunday as Snowmassive. Should boil down nicely. I'll have it posted shortly. It was awesome to ride with everyone and put faces with screen names. Thanks to everyone that made it happen.
  17. Anyone hanging out tonight? I'll probably be rolling into Aspen around 8 or 9 and don't know the town well at all. Anybody know if there's a bar with a foosball table?
  18. Hopefully the heavy stuff stays in the high country so everybody with DIA flights can land. Storm Warning for Aspen... "BY FRIDAY MORNING...NEW SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 10 TO 20 INCHES...WITH SOME WEST AND NORTHWEST FACING SLOPES RECEIVING AS MUCH AS 18 TO 36 INCHES." Sounds like they'll have all day to clear roads/runways. Then... high 30's and sunny for the whole weekend? Did someone on this forum figure out how to script the weather?
  19. That's unlucky Mike. A death worse than fate. Dibs on the spot. Please. Allee/GQ, you've got mail. thanks greg
  20. That's carvey like Dana. Good stuff.
  21. A hardbootin betty in a one piece? Good chance I'm going to fall in love with you... Aspen's got jewelers, right?
  22. <table cellpadding="1" cellspacing="4" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td align="left" nowrap="nowrap" width="25%">Winning bid:</td><td nowrap="nowrap">US $15.99 </td></tr></tbody></table> Well done! Can't wait for those things to come back for good.
  23. I've got a 3 bedroom house in Frisco, CO that I'm planning on staying at Friday night (the 8th) to cut the number of nights I'm getting gouged in Aspen down by 1. If anyone else is interested in staying in Frisco the night before SES starts, I can offer it up for $25/head. ---------- Also, I've currently got 1 spot in my truck if anyone needs a ride up from DIA/downtown Friday the 8th, and/or rides the whole week in Aspen, and/or a ride back to DIA/downtown on Friday/Saturday. ---------- Also, I'm looking to split a room in Aspen (or close) Saturday - Thursday. Would like to pull trigger soon. Thanks!
  24. Hey gang. I'm interested as well. Mike, is that working out to $100/night for the week? Ungh. Friggin Aspen. I'm going to comb craigslist for something better. Anybody in Denver? Wanna meet up beforehand? I'm mid 30s, there to ride, considerate as hell, no tuba. I've got 1 open spot in my truck. Could get out to DIA for a pick up if need be. Greg 203.727.5581
  25. Second year hardbooting, 1st for the ES. Can't wait. Hey, anyone interested in trading some floor space in Aspen that week for some nights at my place in Frisco some other time this season?
