    wawa-ride

hmm. hard to say. the conditions were ok yesterday. slushy in the early evening but hardened as the night went on. The coverage is still good though and still carvable. i think its going to depend on how much rain we get tomorrow. they also didn't groom last night before the PM session to conserve snow. don't know if they will keep this throughout the rest of the season. i'm hoping to get in one more night...
  5. going out tonight to wawa . hopefully the weather will hold p hey angie and griff, maybe i'll see. i'm riding a matrix overlord. you can spot it a mile away.
  6. Thanks for the input and I totally agree. I ended up going to wawa a few days after my post and found it to be much better than nashoba. nashoba was too short, too crowded, and too many beginners to really get in a good run. I had a great time doing some of the trails at wachusett run off the beginner lift (although the lift was painfully slow! the ratio of ride time to lift time was like 1:10). but hey i'm able to do norm I and norm II now and i think was able to get in a tight turn where i touched the ground! wohoo:) anyways, was also thinking of going out tomorrow (tuesday) but wondering if its going to be too slushy? anyone know what its like out there?
  7. can you take the heat with the overlord: so i've taken the 'lord out twice. The first time was my first alpine experience in hardboots (that I hadn't molded-that hurt:smashfrea ). but the second time (after molding), everything clicked and I was doing norm and normII carving and really beginning to trust my downhill edge. so considering this, my review of the board is a bit limited. right now, i'm riding Raichle 423, snowpro race plates, and the 'lord. My softboot setup that i've been riding for the past 6 years is salomon boots, drake bindings, and a neversummer premiere t5. in comparison with the T5, the lord is stiffer and lighter. board+ plates ~10bs. nose is curved up but tail is not. I feel it holds edge a lot better than the t5, but that's expected as the 'lord has more effective edge. can't comment on construction yet b/c i haven't had it for long. it feels like its decently made. supposedly its sidewall construction. the topsheet is a bit intense. i've already turned many heads at the lift line. i'm taking suggestions to modify the topsheet... can someone explain why everyone likes the shape of this board? aren't most all-mountain boards with a rounded tail? overall, i'm happy with it and looking forward to my next time out. i haven't had as much fun on a snowboard as I did carving on the 'lord in quite some time. i'm hoping to be able to carve some tigher turns next time out. i'm also hoping to use this primarily as a learning board before upgrading. if anyone has specific questions about the board, let me know and i'll try my best to answer. can also post pics of it if you'd like.
  8. newbie here.. wondering if people think wawa or nashoba is better for learning to carve. went to nashoba last week and found it crowded and narrow trails. wachusett is a bit farther for me (15min more) but maybe its worth it? Thanks for any advice!
  9. thanks..hopefully the bootfitting will go ok..does anyone know a good bootfitter in the boston area? i know carver's alamanac suggests that summit ski and snowboard but that's a bit of a drive? i don't think i have actual heel lift..although how do i test? the shell test is a confortable 2 fingers so now I'm kind of worried they are too big although feel fine right now. the previous owner had them out 5 days.
  10. Ok. my first day on hardboots after riding softies for 6 years. within the first 10 min, i was going to cry. my feet still hurt the morning after. i've got the "world's most conformtable" boots, a pair of barely used Raichle 423 with thermoflex liner. ok granted i haven't molded them yet b/c I just got the boots two days ago and I wanted to try them out the rest of my equipment. I really hope the molding helps (please allay my fears!) . actually, had a question about heel lift..those boots came with intec heels but my bindings are regular bail bindings (snowpro race). is there a heel lift built into the intec heels? i felt like i was really fighting to make those toeside carves don't know if this contributes to it or just me. I had an extra 6mm of lift on the back binding. I felt like i was fighting the equipment a bit. I'd appreciate any insights!
  11. Does everyone have the same experience with Raichle boots-that they are a bit oversized? My foot measures 11.4" as well, probably a normal width and I just bought a pair of Raichle 423 mondo 29. haven't gotten them yet but did I just bite the big one???
  12. Thanks for everyone's input...for the price, decided to take a chance and give it a try..its certainly stiffer than my neversummer premier t5. i think that's a good sign:) hopefully it won't delam after one ride..the top sheet is dope, except for face..maybe i'll put some stickers on there.lol thinking of pairing this some snowpro race and some ups/upz mach x. would this make for a good starting carver board?
  13. Hi all, Newbie here with a chance to buy a matrix overlord..Wondering what category people think is, all-mountain or freecarve: length: 168cm Effective edge: 147cm Nose width: 24.2 waist width:19.2 tail width: 23.4 Sidecut radius:11.8 http://www.matrixboardsports.com/mens_boards/overlord.htm would a size 29 boot be too wide for this board? thanks!
  14. Hi are the boots still available? please send me email if so..sliang@gmail.com
