  1. Great posts! I've found that too many SoCal riders dress like the "Tough Guy", feel like the "The I-just-want-to-fit-in Guy", Talk like he's the "Next Pro" guy, and Ride Out of Control (just like they drive)....and never, ever gets the attention of the Quiet Girl. Can somone drop a "Fake" bomb out here so that we can start over??
  2. I'll take untracked trees and steeps over groomers any day, anywhere except back East. However, since this is a carving forum, I'd have to say I actually prefer cutting holes in the earth on a warm, almost slushy day. 48 degrees, sunny and about 11:30 on a midweek day. Not too hard, no slush piles, but good ol' soft cornsnow that let's you turn upside down. And, add some rollers into the mix so you can launch directly into a screaming backside carve, jeez... I love springtime. One of my favorite turns comes at the apex of a roller where you get that extra oomph, the weightless-yet-connected drop into the next tongue-dragger... Rockies, Sierras, Cascades... just do it!

You may even try advertising the scrap bamboo to artists...fence making, basket weaving, crafts etc. Heck, if you were industrious enough, you could try to grow your own supply! http://www.bambooliving.com/PDF.cfm/BambooGrowing.pdf
  4. An earlier thread got me thinking, and with dual comps coming up this weekend, I'm looking at my quiver and figuring out the best approach... I take pride in tuning my own boards, and definitely prefer a hands-on approach to hot waxing. I pretty much cover all bases: Remove old wax, P-Tex, file (if necessary), bevel (if necessary), sharpen and hot wax, brush and refine. I am also using a Toko hot waxer with reservoir... I always remove the bindings before beginning the the whole process - not only for ease of access, but also because on occasion, if I left bindings on, I would notice that dimples would appear in the base where the inserts are located, but only under those inserts that were tightened. And only after the waxing/tuning was complete. This would suck plenty because I'd end up with extra wax right under my bindings, slowing the glide on my freeride/freestyle boards. So, my question to the experts is: Do you remove the bindings before you hot wax? Am I crazy about these dimples appearing, or is my iron turned up too high? Much appreciated from a newbie to this forum.....

  7. Solid condition, with very minor marks. This board has 12 days on it, and hasn't been ridden since 2003. I've kept it in storage. No rust, repairs, gouges or blemishes. It's solid, almost brand new. I can send you pictures if you email me. This board is super fast, 24.8 at the waist and has a day-glow orange base. Check out the reviews: http://www.gearreview.com/ride_fuel.php Please email me with questions. tune @ tidalmotions.com
  8. This board is one-of-a-kind at 181 cm, It has a big nose that will float you all the way down Tucker, yet a narrow waist that will actually let you carve the hard-pack groomers back to the base. No Joking. It has probably 20 really good powder days (why else ride a 181?)on it, and that's it. It has a chip in the topsheet of the tail, and a few repaired scrapes on the base, but no base welds necessary. I haven't ridden this board since 2000, it's been in bag storage for about 5 years. If you're interested, please respond to this email. I will send you pictures! Let me know if you have questions.

  11. I've got an extra one I am willing to part with. Ride Fuel's were made in image of the Timeless, but with a narrower sidecut (this one's 24.9) and a smidge less stiff. I've had this board for a while, but since I live in Cali, I haven't ridden it in 4 seasons (when I used to live in Colorado). I would be willing to part with it for $140. It has 17 days on it, it was the backup to an identical Fuel 165. Email if you're interested - check the attached pictures.
