  1. Which part of the shell is the 22-24.5 part? I was under the impression that some parts (cuff, tongue, etc) covered more sizes than others (lower shell). I'm a 24, wondering if these would be appropriate (with the right liners)

  2. Tried the tips today on a beautiful pow day at Mt Hood Meadows. Over a foot in the last 24, and dumping all day. Dropped through some pretty straight trees, and had a great time. The advice about looking fairly far ahead was great; my driving instructor started me out on freeways with a fairly similar philosophy, and it did a lot for me.

I found that 54/25-30 felt the best to me, angle-wise, but unfortunately I get a lot of underhang (23.5 boots/ 25cm waist), and my back leg got real tired. I think I'm going to play around with narrower boards, and maybe add some rear cant so I can move my stance back.

  3. I've been boarding for a few years (actually, once or twice a year for several, and then 15-20 times last season), and my goal this season is to get my tree boarding going. I can make it through the trees when they're not too steep and the snow is nice and soft, but I want to handle them on steeper pitches and cut a nice line, because they're often the last powder stashes at the resort when we get a dry week. I also have a bunch of freeriding friends that get bored lapping the groomers.

This board has helped me out a lot with carving, giving me things to keep in my head as I'm laying down turns (angulate, rotate into the turn, flex/extend, etc). Any advice on where to start with tree boarding? As far as my setup goes, I'll be on an atomic radon, 25-something waist, 159cm long, on hardboots. What sort of angles/setback should I be looking at? I was thinking of running a kind of surfy stance, somewhere along 35f/20-25r.

  4. Buy the coolest-looking rub-on wax you can at the board shop on the mountain. Bonus points if it says "Xtreme" on it. Rub it until your board feels waxy. A store might try to sell you a "diamond stone" to tune your edges, but you can do just as well with a rock- start a Sublime song, then rub it all around your edges until it's over.

    You're good to go!

  5. I'm a sophomore econ major at Lewis and Clark College, and I'm looking for an internship for the summer, so I can build my resume and get my hands wet working with an organization. I'd like to find a company in the financial or technology sector if possible, particularly one with a kind of green bent to their operations. If anyone has any leads or connections, I would very much appreciate it; the only restriction is that because of housing costs, I would need to be in or near PDX or San Francisco.

I have a pretty strong background in microeconomics (finished the track, up to the 400-levels), Information Technology (A year of computer science, two years working for our IT department), and general administrative and project work (Couple years on a nonprofit board, and working as an RA at the college). I've got a high GPA, and I'm not half bad at Japanese. If you happen to know a place I'd be a good fit, please let me know.

  6. Fun times!

    Seen on the slopes:

-Bryan, a fount of wisdom, ripping it on the Tinkler

-Mark somethingorother, in orange boots and what looked like a very, very turny coiler, flanked by a savage 80 year-old skiier.

-Gina? A skiier-turned-hardbooter, skidding around on Vista

-An unknown small asian woman, in retro-purple nylon, riding hardboots on what looked like a 149cm F2 boardercross board. Weird.

  7. I'm not exactly sure how open-source this forum software is, or how involved the site staff are in manipulating it, but it would be great if posters or users could flag posts as reviews, select the board of which they are a review, and have those aggregated in the review section.

  8. As cool as the review section is, it's nowhere near as comprehensive as the wisdom you can find with a little searching. I feel like it would be nice to either start a "gear reviews" section of the board, and keep one thread per board, or go through (I'd be happy to help with this) and copy/paste experiences from the thread into the review sections. There's got to be a better way to consolidate board reviews.

  9. My shins have hurt constantly since the last time I went boarding, which was about five days ago. There's absolutely no bruising or chafing, but the lower quarter of my shin down to my ankle stings when I walk or flex my boots. I'm pretty sure this came from a few skidded falls on icey chop during the break- I think my shell must have slammed against my shin.

I'm trying to find thicker liners, and I found a pair of raichle boots in my size (I have heads) cheap on ebay, just in case that's the problem. My main question is, though, will continuing to ride aggravate the injury? Is there a treatment or stretching regimen I should go through?
