I got hit in the back of my head from an airborn soft boarder. Rag dolled unconcious into the snow head first. Streched the crap out of my feet (plantar), was out for 5 minutes, broken teeth and had 12 switches in my mouth. . I wear a full face now. If you ride hard, you never know what will hapen. This happened going from hard pack to wet soft snow (I'm 230lbs). Launched myself into the bush after the board broke. This is a down hill mountain bike helmut - very lite. It's more cumfortable that a standard ski helmut. It also saves your goggles in a face plant. have a safe season

Moostone is groomed for every weekend and can be perfect for a few hours in the am. A bit narrow if the fence off 1/2 for racing. Sunrise at Blue is only good Wed morn but its one of the best runs. Was there yesterday morning - was brilliant - I have been told its only groomed once or twice a week. Searchmount (SS Marie) is awesome if you can tolerate the old slow tows.

No matter "how good you are" if it doesn't feel good it sucks. If on the edge of traction you are relaxed and in the grove - you've reached the highest possible level.

Took the board out in soft wet snow(was fine in the AM). Turned too hard and the nose bit a foot of heavy snow. I was wearing stiff UPZ 5 buckle boots with the front locked and tight. I'm 230lbs and often wondered what would happen if....

There are many carvers at Beaver that would like to attend but can't because they have their mens day on the 30th. Its also the same time as my kids break between semesters. I can't go to either because its the only good time to take my kids skiing out west. Be better on a different day.

When my kids were 4 & 7 we all had enough of skiing on 600' or less hills. We all went out bought crappy soft boards and had a great time as a family learning how to snowboard. The local hill was all of 200' high and that was all we needed for the first year. We all excelled at the same speed. 11 years later we all ski, Carve, all mountain, and the kids love the park. I fill the pick up just with gear when we travel for a ski holiday. My daughter and I are spending a week out west together Sun Peaks to carve and Whistler to All mountain and ski - its her last year at home before University. Funnest way to keep your family together.

The wider the board the more leverage required to put it on edge (think of how little leverage is required to put a ski on edge). Wider boards can have lower angles to accommodate the increased leverage required. As Mr. Roboteye said, if your boots are at the limits of "bootout" the leverage will feel the same. The big factor is how your knees contribute to your ride. If you are on a skwal you won't change the board's angulation when you flex your knees - they flex forward. Angulation/steering is soley acheived with your waist/hips (and lean angle of course). If you are on a soft board with a "duck" stance (-15, +15) your knees change the angulation dramatically. The more you bend your knees the less angulation you get. The higher the binding angles the less effect bending your knees will have on angulation/steering. Everyone will have a comfort zone based on their method to "steer" the board. If you find it hard to bend "sideways at the hip" to achieve angulation with high (55+) binding angles you will bend more with your stomoch requiring lower binding angles...a wider board. I find it more stable to angulate/steer with my waist and obsorb the bumps with my knees independantly. Just like a car, turning and obsorbing bumps are indendant tasks. hey, I have a 184 pure race. It has a listed flex of 6.9 - rated for probably 175-200 lbs but I put it on Bruce's "flex bench" (The Coiler shop is down the road from me) and it is now measured 6.5 probably rated for 150-175 lbs. Bruce's serial No 184 PR 9832 11-6.9 I think the side cut is about 12m (may be 11m from above #s), 18.5cm waist It is white, I am the third owner and it was built in 1998, Its been ridden a lot by me 40+ times in the last two years. I'm 220lbs so I can turn it quite well. I love the board and I always felt real confident on it. I now have a new Titanal Coiler so I don't need this one. It has had TD1's on it and it is in 7/10 shape, base and edges in good shape. There are lots of lift line dings and such. Got to get $200 US plus shipping or I'll just keep it for my friends.

These are my old carving boots. If you wanted to use ski boots I think it would be OK.

Hey, Any bindings - they are standard 4x4 holes with 6mm inserts. My son used a pair of Proflex then standard Burton race plates. His boots used last year was 29 Mondo - so almost anything can be bolted to it.
