  1. First Thirst for me. Pretty excited to get out there. WARP Superconductor 175/19.1. As with most Thirsts I have seen, it’s hard to capture the brilliance of the topsheet in indoor light, but it’s awesome and never looks exactly the same from any angle. Thanks MM for a great build with remarkable attention to detail and finish.

  2. Was at Vail on Monday and met three young lifties that were new self-directed softie-carvers and STOKED about it. Two of them were on brand new Donek Inclines and one was on his dad's old winterstick. Even though their total days on snow only numbered in the teens they were doing quite well. They were eager to learn and ate up a few tips I could give them before I had to leave. All they had on their minds was having fun and ripping turns. They weren't even bickering over the merits of race technique vs the "various bomber variants" (pinky high in the air here) It was refreshing!

  3. The over/under on this one seems to be 50 years old. Right around the time colonoscopies go from something to laugh about to something to dread. Having crossed that boundary, it's a protective instinct to not offer one's posterior in such an inviting manner.

  4. Awesome and fun video, thanks for sharing! They're having fun and the edit shows that. I've been watching other random snowboarding videos recently released on YouTube. I'll take 100 of this style over one of the mainstream videos!

  5. @davekempmeister here is your camber shot and @Kneel here is outdoor even though it is cloudy an gray and @b0ardski it is the actual pantone colors from the Oregon palette even though I am east coast and have no school affiliation. Just liked the colors.

  6. I ponied up for a set of Intuition Power Wraps today and got them molded and out on the hill for a couple of runs. Wow! Instant Relief and more forward flex!! Guess add me to the Wrap Convert list

  7. The bum in the air is a pretty much the snow surf carving style where there is little to no extenstion during the carve its put it up on edge and let board just run its side cut. part of the reason is these boards are often pretty soft powder shapes so dont take kindly to alot of force being put through them through out the turn, meaning there going to decamber massively and probably fairly unevenly if you try to do the down unweighted/cross under style that your a fan of. basically the boards are dictate that style of riding.

  8. Technique schmecnique. My 20yo chip-off-the-old-block raging adhd kid just said "THAT was one of the RADDEST f'n carving vids I've ever seen...". I concurred. That is the life I missed out on...

  9. You actually "want" a Superconductor because of how it will ride. Colour is for lift rides and between seasons, for when you are so dry and thirsty for your next Superconductor ride! PS: added after I saw the response below. A little gentle ribbing was my intent. Mark makes beautiful boards.

  11. Out for a few runs this morning in flat light. Same 3 runs are open. They are blowing snow all over 4pipe this afternoon and they should be able to keep making snow nonstop for the next several days. Hopefully they'll get better quality snow with the lower temps. Much of the snow on the hill today was nicely groomed crushed ice with chunks. We made 2-3" deep trenches. Ran into another hardbooter who races with the UMD Alpine SNOWBOARD team. He just got a new Donek 163 FC, his first real carving board...and they just cancelled the races for the season. I might go out for a couple mor

  13. actually super easy , the fastest way for buying a Japanese snowboard is from rakuten japan, basically a Japanese Amazon! There is a website call rakuten global express, they will handle the shipping and they had well explain everything on their website. there are also tons of YouTube video teaching you how buy stuff from rakuten japan. Buying a snowboard is the same as you buying anything else from Japan. Shipping to the US is around $250, depends on what carrier you use UPS package usually only take 4 days to get to the US after it ship out. as long as you have a credit card

  15. FUN OVER TECHNIQUE I do not have the assituity nor the regimentation to be a good carver. I have more fun expecting the unexpected and reacting accordingly. Fun to be in the air. This video was really well done and showing that there's all kinds of fun things to do on a board.

  16. Over analyzing. This was fun to watch and probably fun to ride. I don't think they care about our analysis of their technique. I just wish I could carve half as well!

  17. I really would love to see a mix of both the Rain Dogs and the Blue videos; hardbooters railing groom, slashing and riding pow - something that would get people thinking 'all mountain hb'.

  18. Not disagreeing, but along the lines of "If it's too loud, you're too old...", I'll go out on a limb and suggest "technique" was pretty far down on the Trello card when those young men produced that video. That vid took my sore creaking 50yo body there and convinced it that it was 25 again...if only for 11 minutes.

  19. Another "feature" that I was really consider about is half size shell. It's great for the in-between size feet. "The Northwave copy boots we produce are made from low shells (272,282, 292,302) in 10mm increments to increase the fit. For example, a 255 mm, 260 mm mermaid uses a 282 mm shell. The 265mm, 270mm mermaid uses a 292mm shell. So the length of the shell is 5mm ~ 15mm smaller than the boots of other companies, and the fit feeling is excellent like custom shoes." For those already with liner/spring system and with size in between feet and intec is must have. S5 seems like

  20. The 4 open trails are in good shape as of yesterday. They are blowing snow on Narrow Gauge, should be open soon, which will be good to move the racers there and off of King's.

  22. Mark made this for himself, but his wife said he couldn't keep it. So, at great personal sacrifice I offered to take it off his hands...you know, to save a marriage. It's a Thirst PCjv (the baby powder carver), 169 length, 22.5cm waist with a powder nose. The topsheet is Sapele with Maple & Teak inlay and I think that's Walnut in the tail. Hand flexing it feels softer than my carving sticks, which is good. It's supposed to be a good carver on the groomers too. I've never ridden a split tail before, but they sure look sexy. Oh, and if Mario's wife asks, I'm just holding it fo

  23. Yeah Barry, very legit. I wonder how much they "learned" while OEM'ing Kesslers. I picked up the F2 Proto SL from @Termin8tor. Took a couple runs today. Seems a bit smoother, a bit more damp, but still goes airborne between carves. Great torsional stiffness. Slightly more turny. I held them base to base and the waist is the same but the nose and tail of the Proto are a little wider. Takes up a little less space on the hill but my legs are not cooked. Really great boards.

  26. 404 - tree board not found in those pictures. Have you tried an actual powder board? While you can ride alpine boards in powder, they're a bit like driving an F1 car on a rallycross track. You can, but it's more fun with appropriate equipment.
