surprised you didn't go over the bars on that one

Surprised i managed it aswell 😄
I think the explanation is that i am twisting going from toeside to heelside because of not wanting to end up in the trees 😄
So much of the momentum is towards the camera and the nose is just scraping snow until the edge gets enough grip. 🤔
Also the hill goes from crest to quite steep so the pressure on the nose seems to be decreasing from pic 2 to 3. 🧐

Yes but not necessarily.  Look at your trench.  All the snow you've excavated has to go somewhere.

To quote/paraphrase someone's signature here "Trenches don't lie". No real difference between us.
"Lots of spray" is subjective. Joerg Egli in a body dragging, edge grabbing, Pureboarding style turn is, for me, a good example of lots of spray and the turn not being cleanly carved. Example from around 3:25 to 3:40 in the video below, and the second turn clearly shows the squiggly "trench" left behind. Earlier in the video are lots of much more cleanly carved Pureboarding turns, short and with modest amounts of spray.

@Calle loved your photo sequence.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Lots of spray is the mark of a board that is no longer carving cleanly.

I agree - from the perspective of anyone who doesn't drag themselves through the snow like that it does look odd.

The trick with spray however... is to kick up the spray, then turn back through it. In which case you could well be carving as you emerge from your cloud 😉 The other trick is to make one big turn, and count down to it so the photographer knows it's coming.

skier buddy of mine is back there getting the cold smoke screen.  we trade shots.  when i am near the lift unbuckling he usually gets his revenge.

also, this is 5 years ago - i always wear a helmet now.  as time passes, i find it hard to believe that i used to be so sure of myself.
