daveo
I'm just browsing around looking to see what I can waste money on. Came across BootDoc compression SOCKS of all things. Anyone used anything like this? https://www.boot-doc.com/en/products/power-fit-socks/winter-sport-socks-power-fit-socks-compression-socks-compression-stockings-51x38.html What about compression thermals? https://www.skins.net/eu/men/sports/ski.html I have worn compression wear for years back when I was involved in other sport, but curiously never for snowboarding... Always found 2XU to be poor quality and CW-X to have a very warped idea of where compression is needed . Skins were great though. Mig
I have been using EC3D compression socks for snowboarding for several seasons now, and can't picture myself using anything else in the future. I also use them for skateboarding. They make a world of difference for me.
daveo
@Mig May I ask what benefits you gain from them? I think I'm going to get a couple of pairs sent in my next shipment from the US. Edited October 11, 2018 by daveo
Mig
A lot less foot and calf fatigue. Improved arch support a lot. Makes my boot/liner combo even more comfortable. I have big calves, and I can feel the support they bring. I also keep them on for the ride home and it helps a lot with recuperation. No tired lower legs and feet after a riding session. I'm skinny so I just like the way they look, I'm not sure they're any better or worse than more traditional stuff, in terms of performance. Didn't know you could get socks, but I'd probably not go that way - a bit of padding softens the boots a bit..

No, used these at first: https://ec3dsports.com/ca_en/compression-twist-socks-bkg Now using these: https://ec3dsports.com/ca_en/universal-compression-socks-bk And Mig is a diminutive for my full first name... daveo
@Mig Oh LOL, just assumed you had some sort of affinity for Russian aircraft. Not that there is anything wrong with that... Thanks for the info, by the way. I think I'll grab a couple of pairs.

Speaking of, I designed a 180 cm board about 18 years ago that was part of a company's freeride line. My nickname inspired them to call that line the Supersonics (if I remember correctly) and put a russian MiG as the graphic on my 180... Got the nickname 28 years ago when I moved here (Quebec City). All the dudes I rode with had short nicknames, so they shortened my first name to the first 3 letters. Their way to make me feel welcomed and accepted, I guess... It has stuck ever since. Even my family uses it now... LOL
queequeg
I used to ride in an opedix top that improved my shoulder stability but it was incredibly uncomfortable (if effective). Once I got my shoulder repaired I ditched it for comfort.

I like very thin socks for snowboarding, that's why I switched to the Universals.
barryj
I've tried some very pricey "compression" socks and tights for endurance biking ... and snowboarding and the only difference I noticed is I have a lighter wallet! It felt supportive...but I saw/felt no performance or recovery advantage https://www.mensjournal.com/gear/compression-tights-dont-boost-performance-or-reduce-muscle-fatigue-according-nike/
Dan
I got some compression road biking shorts and didn't notice a difference in performance or recovery, but they were on sale, so no complaints. There's enough high-end athletes using compression gear that I imagine there must be something to it, but maybe it only comes into play when you're really getting after it. Or good sponsorship $. I'd wear a rubber band on my head if paid enough money.
