Mord
I’m looking for a place to carve during Thanksgiving, but most areas are not open then. Even those that advertise as being early only open after thanksgiving, on the 22nd. The few I have on my radar right now are A-basin, Vail, and Timberline. Alll suggestions in North America are welcome!
ibrussell
Grand Targhee is open with 50"-70", 3 out of 4 years for Thanksgiving, but the snow comes in the 2 weeks before so we wait for late minute to book. Last year we had 2 days of 10" pow and 2 days of groom.
Neil Gendzwill
There are no guarantees that early but Sunshine and Lake Louise are often open by then.
JRAZZ
Loveland will probably be open too but regardless of mountain just know that you're looking at the white ribbon of death season.

Some Int'l teams probably training in the Valley at that time of year. Always amazing to watch.
lowrider
There open as in they will take your money but don't expect anything like groomed cord. Killington may be an option as they usually blow snow as soon as it gets frosty at elevation. Usually looking for bragging rites. Rock boards only ! Lurch
+1 on the Ghee. I had a great week at Revelstoke in very early Dec a few years back (above the gondola) Believe Whistler is pretty reliable well before Xmas too - paging @BlueB

JohnE
I'd say that Loveland or A-Basin are the most reliable early season in Colorado. However, neither of them are "resorts". They both are just old-style ski areas. Edited August 8, 2018 by JohnE

Cypress often opens before Whistler, the record was Nov 9. However, the steeper runs are not likely to be covered that early.
Carvin' Marvin
Mother Nature will always have the final say in early season carving. Could be half a mountain open or two runs.
