bobble
I had problems with rear foot hip. Last summer I was having problems walking. I had pain down near the pink parts. I thought it was a hernia. It hurt to move or pivot on my rear leg. There were times I was locked in place because the pain was excruciating. Felt like a hot knife. Went to urgent care. I could barely walk more than a couple inches at a time. The triage nurse said I needed to go to ER because I had a hernia. So I go to ER. The doctor probed around and ruled out a hernia but had no idea... Maybe tendinitis. I was referred to an ortho clinic. Saw an orthopedic specialist. Had x-rays. Moved legs around. The diagnosis was arthritis in both hip joints. I was skeptical and argued with him because it felt more like a really bad groin pull. Nope, its arthritis and showed me the x-rays. He said take ibuprofen when it flares up. Look to 10-15 years for hip replacement. Found out later my family is predisposed to hip issues. I was worried about snowboarding especially pushing one-legged to/from the chair. Went to a gym and met with a trainer to help with hip mobility issues. The trainer had me do these hip flexor stretches with a small ball and work on the glutes with a foam roller. Started taking glucosamine. I didn't have problems riding last season but I did have occasional problems walking in my boots to/from my car.
Algunderfoot
Symptoms of osteoarthritis, best to consult with a orthopaedic. While I don't attribute my new hips specifically to snowboarding, I can to skiing, barefooting and volleyball, plum wore out. But it's been three years since my second BHR procedure and I hit 69 snow days this year. Had both done in Spring so as not to miss a season. If it's hindering don't put it off, but I would investigate less invasive options first, like Stem cells, not cortisone. You want to preserve ALL the bone you can.

JohnE
I've found that switching to softboot carving is a much more natural stance and easier on my joints.

That's Funny! During my first exam, my Ortho asked me when it hurts, to which my response was "anytime I'm not snowboarding!"
