Hard boots - not only for carving!

Hi Yoshi! Please don't scream at us so BIG - we get scared...

Photo... I just jump and click, with timer set at 1/2s delay and throw camera sideways - it shoots on the fly. Then I collect it next run... Just kidding ;)

Roy took the pics in "burst", or continuous, mode. Then I photoshoped them together.

Shell we include jumps in the future lessons, so you can beat your softbooting big brother in next BX race?

Steve, that was some fun stuff to watch:) I've been boarding for 20 years and I still can't do a 360! I was never much of a spinner but if you can do a 360 on a 210 in hard boots, I must be able to figure it out:) I can only imagine the looks and comments you got hitting the jumps and parks on that equipment!

Awesome:biggthump

More powder stuff from this week. All this is Powder Mountain Whistler, where the snow machine is currently "on". Here's a 36 second video (the theory being that 36 seconds exceeds most people's boredom threshold with these things):

No aerials for this "sixty something" rider but I did have some fun spinning on a Volkl GS board at Davos in 2007. The first two clips (boarding and skiing) were speeded up. The last clip definitely didn't need speeding up.

best last day of the year in a long time,

I avoided the sunshine saturday new year crowds and went strait up Big Blue (Schwietzer's n. back country). Hiking in Raichle 224 made me really wish for a wider vibram sole.

Snow was very spring like with a corn glaze but the steep untracked turns on the face were glorious.

here's a short clip from a bit lower down.

Ok I have something to add. I dropped the Standish Headwall at Sunshine for 15-18' of vertical last weekend. I landed it with a butt check and rode off. Apologies, video was shot with a lousy point-and-shoot camera and my wife hasn't ever shot this type of action before. As such she was going for the nicely framed scenic shot rather than focusing on me jumping off this lip. I don't think she was expecting me to drop near as far as I did so unfortunately I drop right off the bottom of the frame.

Board: Custom Donek Incline 165cm, 9m, 25cm waist

Bindings: TD3 SI with yellow elastomers at 50/45

Boots: UPZ ATBs with Fintecs.

This was rather fun as this was the first day that I had dropped this lip in about 15 years. My two daughters (7 and 10) just kicked it up and now are riding at a level that allows me to ride this type of terrain again.

Cheers,

Dave
