Well the race was fun, but we had one of the lowest turn outs ever with only 15 competitors. Most of the numbers in the past were from the Angel Fire kids but they have gone off to college and what not. So this is where the rest of the NM Hard boot community needs to step in and step it up.

One of the things that really helps drive hard booting is races. While ski racers are seeing some drop in number due to the migration by some into slopestyle events, ski racing is still strong. We need to look to them and start learning from what they are doing right to stay so strong. And one of those things is racing and race training.

Racing is a great way to come together and help encourage each other to improve your carving style.

If I don't see you at next weekends boarder cross, I really hope to see some new faces with hard boots at the Slalom/Giant Slalom event Sunday Feb 15th. This will be a new race at a new hill so lets show up in strength through numbers and prove that hard booting isn't dead.

That would be awesome if you did. Shoot, if you were in ABQ, I'd give you a ride. Not sure how many people are coming down from your area. We had one kid come down from Copper series this last weekend. Was pretty cool.

I'm just sad cause our series is loosing numbers and we might die out if more people don't start coming out. We've got several different philosophies on how to do that. One being the old school philosophy that this is a racer thing, and if you are into racing, you should take interest and show up. But obviously that isn't working. So the next idea is to advertise. But is that really going to do anything if no one cares about competition and expects free shwag?

Perhaps I'll cross post under the coaching/racing section.

With 60 deg temps @ Angel Fire yesterday they are just buying time at this point. At this rate the base will be gone by March 1st.

I rode the Coiler @ AF for the first time yesterday. Might be the last too.

I was thinking Pajarito this coming weekend but I haven't talked to Sean or Robert about it yet...

This weather is just rediculous. Looks like highs in the 70's in Albuquerque this week. AF highs in the 50's...

I miss Aspen. :(

yeah it was pretty bad conditions, started snowing in the morning large pellete snow, on top of ice, wich turned to soft slush, when the sun came out.

Not to mention I was sick and my balance was way off.:barf:

Welcome to NM conditions in March. Not to mention this winter has been horrible. :smashfrea
