  1. A big thank you to @Technickfor making the topsheet and sending to Bruce!
  2. Coiler contra 160 (soft boots) Waist width 26.5, radius 10.5 Logo from 2 Tone Records, which was a Ska music label ( Madness, English Beat, The Specials,...)
  3. I've started kung-fu (wing chun style) last year at 56. It's pretty good for cardio, flexibility (we stretched a lot), coordination, strength for upper and lower body (it needs strong quads). Bonus : I can think I'm Ip Man or Bruce Lee ha! ha!
  4. I received an Asmocarve+ extra rubber last year, as you said David, when you tilt it on edge early in the turn the edge hold is incredible. But I do not remember the difference between the contra and the asmo
  5. My buddy and I are in Panorama this week. What a great carving mountain! A lot of wide runs and great grooming. Not a lot of snow, locals are telling me it's not a great winter for snow in BC. No other hardbooter and the staff is asking if it's a ski or a snowboard...very surprised as it's a great carving mountain .
  6. I fully agree with propositions 1 and 3. 2 and 4 would make purists scream and I'm not so sure this would benefit the game.
  7. Le massif, Stoneham and Ste-Anne are all great mountains for carving. Le massif offers incredible scenery as you think you'll end up in the river. Not much people during week days, I don't know for weekends as I do not carve much on weekends. Canadian dollar is very cheap now ...time to come visit Québec mountains. Québec City is nearby so you can also spent some time there. As for weather, it will play yoyo between 5 and -25 Celsius and conditions can be perfect groomers to pure ice or powder. We're 10 harbooters spending a week at le massif 3-4 years ago, it snowed like crazy almost each day, so we spent the week mostly on softies. It's usually good grooming. And like Barryj mentioned, they'll be a group of Québec carvers at Stoneham week of February 20.
  8. You finally got the width you wanted!
  9. David, you can cross the border and go to Tremblant, but it is spring conditions
  10. Feedback on Big White A friend and I were at Big White February 12 to 19, we were staying at the Inn at Big White, so ski in/ski out. We rode 6 days, sunday to fryday. It was planned to be an hardboots trip, it turns out to be 1.5 day in hardboots (3 half day) and 4.5 days in softboots. It was quite warm, around -4celsius in the morning and +4 celsius in the afternoon. On 119 trails, around 50-55 are groomed. My only other destinations outside Quebec is Aspen (4 times), Big White grooming is not as nice as Aspen grooming. It snowed 3 nights up to noon. So, on mornings whithout new snow, we were able to carve til noon, after that it was too soft and we were switching to sotfboots. We saw only 1 hardbooter during the 6 days. I did not had much experience riding softboots before this trip (4-5 days )but I enjoyed riding in the woods and hors-piste. There is a feeling of liberty in softboots that I do not feel in hardboots. Big White had less snow this year than previous years, it was funny to hear the locals complaining about the ice... what ice !!!! Come ride at Mont Tremblant or Mont Saint-Anne, you'll see what is ice Locals were easy to talk to and very friendly Crackaddict came to Big White to ride one day with us. Overall Big White offers a lot of different trails but you should bring hard and soft boots to enjoy the mountain. I sure liked my snowboard trip! Thanks to all who contribute to this thread.
  11. I have what Bruce called the AsmoCarve since Xmas, it's the latest Contra variation. I have limited experience with plates but for me riding the AsmoCarve is like riding a plate without a plate.
  12. On the left, without bindings, the Coiler Asmocarve 173 with extra rubber. Radius 11.5m I was lazy to find a new topsheet so I reused the one from the Nirvana Energy T4. Both boards have almost the same specs but they do offer a completely different riding experience. I've limited experience riding a plate but the Asmocarve is the the closest thing of riding a plate, it's like riding a plate without a plate. Thanks Bruce!
  13. Thanks again for all info. A friend (Carvinator) and I will be at Big White February 12 to 19. Hope to meet and ride with local carvers.
  14. Big white is looking good! I guess locals don't staying in the village, i've browsed the website, there seems to be only one food market in the village, any one can confirm if it's easy to do groceries in the village?
  15. Thanks a lot for all advices! I'll check all the suggestions.
  16. @AlleeI would like to travel a minimum, I'll take a plane to go west but if I can avoid to rent a car that's even better, but I'm open to all options right now. David, without uncertainty at the borders, I would be in Aspen riding with you, hopefully next year !
  17. Hi, Still hesitant to commit for a snowboard trip to Aspen because of covid, borders, refunds,... Never been in Alberta or BC, what would you recommend for a first trip ? Looking for wide carving trails ( like Snowmass if possible). Would bring my sofboots also in case. What do you suggest?
  18. In Québec, things are getting better, people are getting vaccinated more and more. And the canadian dollar is at its strongest since a while, so things are looking good for a snowboard trip next winter.
  19. Pas 4 mais 5! Michel y sera aussi. Robert-André Tu te joins a nous mardi?
  20. My shortest board is an Angrry 160 18 waist width, I'm 5'6 and 165 pounds. When riding the Angrry I can feel my heart pulsating, it is a good cardio exercice. I feel it more difficult to ride than my nirvana 174 as it's harder to recover from a mistake.
  21. SOLD Nidecker Proto 167, almost postitive that it's a 2010 model. Topsheet has binding marks from soft and hardboots, plus few scratches. Base has 1 really tiny gouge. 200 USD + shipping.
  22. C'est mon bébé! Très belles conditions hier soir!
