  1. Looks like Kessler is taking a shot at powder, with this Kessler Contour. Anyone have any specs, just saw some teaser pics, but I couldn't find anything more than the pics. The Ride always handled itself well for a traditional camber twin, but there is no arguing that the swallow tail with a big 3d nose rules in the deep stuff. Looks just like my K2 Excavator. Interested to see what they are going to sell this for. Long time Kessler guy, but I think I'll stick with the K2 Excavator for $400, and not care about hitting rocks, snowmaking pipes and stumps with it.
  2. Guy……Saturday Guy……?
  3. Deductions: SVR = -0.00069 GUY showed up, went SFD , only stopping at the lift corral. he only took a .00069 deduction for not having Green matching pants, which I believe I was all over him for the during my last visit. HandJob = -200 deductions. run what ya brung guy, early n often on a Sig 185, then quickly switched to a his slalom for some slow n low turns -50. alcohol management still an issue, I believe it’s a genetic disability. -100 Not on the c hunt. That c rhymes with hunt, but has a c instead of an h. C#@* Hunt. Yoga pants everywhere, thigh gaps, woman of all species just looking for a 6 figure sugar daddy as your were listening to your helmet like a sea shell. - 50 BIG’s = don’t know where to begin, -250. run what ya brung guy. I lost track of all the buffalo plaid fists. I think we went from a 8.8 m scr to a 9.1 m scr, after it was all said and done. -50 bad weather management, carhahd snowboard pants !! wtfg !!! Save those for work guy. -25 ”I shoulda wore an extra pair of pantyhose, I’m chilly” my Otha Carhahds are insulated. -25 no beard deduction as well on a windy weekend, be better. -25 I also saw some finger wiggling as well , work gloves. -25 spraying a teammate while he was vulnerable, basically a sucker punch or what some might call pearl harbored. You’re better than that ! -75 I don’t know how you ended up on your roast in the lift line, but there you were like a turtle on his back. -50. i offered to winch you up, you rejected my assistance due to NJ pride +25. -25 for the whole lift line incident slopestar -100 fyi guy, not everyone likes ketchup. In fact some people find ketchup to be disgusting. Next time you’re done eating your fries, please do not leave the extra 4 tubs of unused ketchup next to the GUY whom ketchup makes him vomit !! thanks guy !! +1 point for letting use his Loveland pass for a discount. -99 for slopestar JMFD -50. I’m taking a deduction for second guessing myself. When the Tanker rep and a Tanker team rider recommend riding the tanker centered, but you know you run every board set back from center. Never mind on a powder day, yeah I shifted the fuhhkin bindings back an inch, gfys !!!! so I’m clear the deduction isn’t for adjusting my bindings, it’s for second guessing myself. after the first run, i said to myself. “Self you know what you like, you’ve been doing this for 37 years now GUY , why are you listening to a GUY that can’t manage his own genetic disability and another GUY who’s afraid to wear a green one piece !!! ICE - 0 deductions, it’s amazing what buying a slut a PBR will do to your CPS deductions. Yes CPS points can be bought, via beer, waffles, etc etc. it’s true I see it all the time !!! INK -50. No comment !!! GFY$ till next time !
  4. I won’t be around this weekend, I’m in Co. next weekend I’m away as well as my daughter has ski races at another Mtn. the crew most likely will be. They get ready in the governor Adams lodge, next to the kank8 lift. look for beards, high end bods, and laughter stemming from total nonsense.
  5. Bonzguy, if you can make it today, it’s the annual WKCD “watch Ken carve day” at loon. Every year our GUY, GUYFATHA himself takes his colleagues to Loon. He puts on his usual clinic, and the rest watch in awe. the rest of us hacks will be there tomorrow. Sack up, layer up, and cough up beer money ! gfy
  6. Ive had both a 2014 Ride 168 and a Spectra 168 from 2023. The Ride was my favorite and most versatile board, I could ride the whole mountain and for a full day if I wanted to. I broke a Kessler Cross under warranty mid season last year so they were scarce. I took a spectra thinking it just had a name change. Also my Ride was cooked from all the base grinds over an 8 season period so I was kind of pumped to get another one and I needed something. The biggest difference is the top sheet and how the board performs. *The Ride had a glass topsheet, poppy in transitions , more playful, more forgiving and did well in deep powder. *The Spectra has rougher material for a topsheet, not sure of the name, kind of like a 200 grit sandpaper. It’s more damp and slightly stiffer. So it grips the harder snow better especially boiler plate less chatter. IMO It is now more racey , less forgiving and less playful. camber is the same, but the in the nose and tail, the ride started bending earlier. So the spectra has more effective edge . I think that happened due to a different topsheet material. for what I’m using a glass board for, i prefer the ride over the spectra. Spectra is still a sick board !!
  7. The Bad Dads meet at 7:30am at Governor Adams lodge next to the Kanc fudge pack. Breakfast burritos 9:00 Jamaica Hut. 10 x 10 x 10 at Bunyan. If that doesn't make sense, Bunyan Room at 10am. Somewhere in between all the urine breaks, wining, eating, layering, we somehow manage to get about 10 runs in. gfy
  8. Guy, what rhymes with Gnar ?
  9. I have the Jones freeride 158 6000. Fun and playful, turns like a slalom deck. I can do pop slalom turns on intermediate pitch. Also can link continuous turns without the board wanting to pick up speed like all the variable side cut decks. Nothing steep was open when I rode it, but would like to see how it holds itself together on a steep pitch. I'm 6-1" 220lbs, seemed soft when I first flexed it, but thankfully it rode stiffer. Torsionally its really soft, but it works. I paired it up with the Jones Mercury bindings mediums with my size 9 boots, binding set at 30 front 12 rear. I went with the Mercury's, cause the board is soft, so I wanted the bindings to flex with the board as well. Jones does make a stiffer binding in the Apollo, I don't recommend it for the 6000, more suited for the 9000. Jones also recommends the Mercury's for the 6000. This is a great size and sidecut for where I ride, I'm really happy with it. Not only are our trails narrow, they are filled with straight liners and the worst grooming I have ever seen. So you really have to pic your spots, or you'll die. Not kidding. The Kessler 164 x carve requires allot of real estate, and the Kessler 168 Spectra isn't much different. So keep your eyes peeled for either one of those in the classifieds section in the near future. I'm happy someone made something with as tight as a radius as this 6m, good idea ! The designer must have spent allot of time on the East Coast.
  10. Guy We do work on switch, but only in the family ski zones, but no poles though guy.
  11. Can someone get us an assessment of the damage from this last wash out ? Is the Loon bridge still in tact ? West basin peak ?
  12. Boards are gonna break if you ride them hard enough. I’m up to 2) broken Coilers and 5) broken Kesslers, not from crashing. They have all made great furniture !! I originally thought 2) of those breaks were from the vist plate pressure points and I’ll mention that was 8-10 years ago. Then 2 months ago, I break a Kessler bx board the same exact way but K2 formula bindings and no plate, go figure. Looks like it wasn’t the vist plate after all. All 3 of these boards, the heelside edge snapped and knurled up, a 1/4” wide of base x 5” under the front foot. On another identical break, I broke one kessler sl and one coiler sl, the same way. The tail folded up, at the insert holes, not from the wide based td3 bombers. Toes side pressure, they both folded up. My point is, there’s no rhyme or reason to why they break, it’s NEVER been from TD3 Bomber bindings, although “some experts” will argue. I can say that both manufacturers and reps have been great to deal with and have made all situations more then fair in the end.
  13. It’s the Alpine snowboard mecca of North America !!! Always GUYz and Gals buzzin around at The Dirty Bird. On a normal day, you’ll be riding with former Olympians, former/current World cuppers and full blown degenerate Hard chargers. The 2023 Mustache Cup is in full swing if anyone wants to witness that fiasco. Every Saturday at 8 on the 8, we fire up the saws. It’s like LCI’s Sunday Carve church, but more like carve confession. In the works, nor am races again, which we haven’t hosted since 2004 !! FYI we are not equipped for the ECES 2024. The complaint box would be full by 9:15. GFYs
  14. 2023 Loon Mustache Session Saturday. I just hope my powda snorkel still functions with my gigantic caterpillar. Saturday will be an epic fail if I don't get at least 10 gondi line laps. GFYs
  15. I only know Rosie and Mac, really happy for both of them. Known them both for 20 years, they've put sooo much into this sport, I hope they make some noise and get some results that they are happy with !!! Congrats to the others as well !
  16. I have the k2 excavator. Wanted the Alchemist, it wasn’t available at the time. Did some thinking and I really needed a powder specific board, watched a couple reviews on the Excavator, and I went for it. Really happy with that choice. I’ve got 7 Heli trips under my belt, and have taken allot of boards on those trips. Haven’t had the Excavator in endless powder yet, but have had some inbounds powder days, and it’s the best powder board I’ve ridden compared to Jones hovercraft, prior spearhead, Burton fish and Kessler ride. All those other board I mentioned worked great, this one has the 3d nose, and I think that helps. The excavator also rips the groom. Was just at Jackson Hole, in between dumps, so 85% moguls , some groomers and cold. worked fine on most of the Jackson Hole blues, which imo is the steepest groomed terrain I’ve ever been on. Wish I brought one alpine set up on that trip ! If I wanted to screw around with my rear foot which was set at 3 degree positive, say up to 9-12 degree positive, maybe I could have Schralped a black diamond or two.
  17. When I left the Zoo this morning. 6" on the hood of the Cum'ins, and I guess its still dumpin up de'ya. PRAYING no precipe all week, should be set up nice for next weekend. Kessla Xcarve , no joke !!!!!!
  18. J49, in the end I found, what arguably is the best boot fitter in the world @Beckmann AG , and these boots have fit like a glove since. Check with @i-carve.com very user friendly and quick shipping.
  19. Loon was going off last week ! Conditions were as good as they could be, seeing Cannon was/is closed, WV is begging us for lane space, and we pulled off the first race of the season ! Typical xmas week at Loon with former/current racers from all levels a buzzin around putting on a snowboard clinic for BIG crowd of NH tax payers and day trippers with AMEX cards. Saturdays role call, Kanc 8 at 8. AKA 88. GFY's
  20. This first trail is mainly for sleds and minimal atv use, to connect us to the state trails. This hugs the right side of most of the property line and gets us up to a decent sized pond called Elbow Pond. Once that's done, the goal is to do some trails on the spines of each little peak on the property. There are some great elevation gains/drops, so hoping to be able to do some shuttle runs for Mt bikes. Realistically though, who the fahk am I kidding, the owner of this property is also my fishing captain, we spend all summer chasing fish and mudslides. We wont be up there much in the Summah. GFY's P.S The Bad Dads appear to be in tact for this weekend, should be a real disaster of a time.
  21. ill be up, but might be trail building Saturday that's 50/50. Sunday ALL IN. The Bad Dads should be around, let us know. GFY
