  1. Has anyone seen "SBX The Movie"? I watched it the other day and there was a quote, that I will need to paraphrase, from an old competitor who actually stated that they would run the hardbooters off of the course. They did this as a way to keep the soul of snowboarding because they thought that if hardbooters took over it would turn into skin suits, etc..
  2. Sweeeet! Watch out, it may turn into the next big thing!
  3. My quoting doesn't work but I agree that the far away shot at night shows some cool sprays but I still think it is too far away:) I would definitely agree that anyone, ESPECIALLY if they are an instructor, should never come that close to hitting ANYONE. What it looks like in the video is that the rider tried to set the heelside edge, which would have put them above the skiers, but chattered out so it sent them on the wrong line. Just skip that carve, do a quick heel to toe turn and then lay out another carve to stay FAR away from them. Even if you hooked up on the carve you would still have a lot of speed and the potential to really injure someone. On a side note, why is that even in the video?
  4. Wow, yah hopefully the treatment will do the job because all jokes aside that must suck to be messed up in the head like that.
  5. Well those sure were amusing videos. To the birds credit that is certainly not what it was designed to do:) Chasing something that is WAY bigger than what it is probably gave it some caution so it didn't get smacked hard when the biker was bouncing all around.
  6. Uh, the videos don't really show much. I can tell that it sure LOOKS like you are ripping a couple of turns but it is so far away. Did you put the camera there so you could see the entire run and to keep it out of the way?
  7. I'm with those guys, get a spare set of winter tires on cheap steel wheels, unless you want to spend money on cool wheels:) It gives you the ability to change them yourself, you get half the miles on each set, or whatever your split is, and then each tire is designed for the conditions. I happen to have some Kumho winter tires that I got very lightly used from someone on Craigslist who got a new car and the tires didn't fit. This is all for my 2009 Scion xB. I also have a 2010 Mazda CX-9 that I only have all-season tires on but it is AWD so I give myself a little more leeway on it. Also my wife only drives it ~500 miles a month and our winters in MN have been pretty pathetic lately. On my little Scion FWD they made a big difference from the stock tires, and on my old Mazda5 wagon it made a HUGE difference because that thing had aggressive tires.
  8. Uh, sure. I would start with looking up the USASA.
  9. I'm in Minnesota so I can't surf to save my life but that backwash video certainly had some gnarly looking waves! So they basically bounce out and hit the incoming waves? Also, there sure seem to be a TON of people there! Fun to watch!
  10. Heh. The article in Michael's post didn't actually post the part of the comment that probably pissed the guy off. Come on journalists, it might be an offending comment but if it is part of the story you need to post it as a quote. It actually sheds a poor light on the dude who pushed him off because the comment they chose to post is about as innocuous as it gets.
  11. That kid was way ahead of his time, grinding the board on the rails;) Good stuff! It was amusing seeing the old upright style of the riding, which I just noticed looks a lot like my early days pictured in my avatar:)
  12. I will never push someone off of a chair, period. That is dangerous and if they found that dude he should be dealt with accordingly. Having said that, I also think it is incredibly disrespectful to make a comment like that to a complete stranger. Don't be a complete dope. You can make those comments to people you know but why do you need to make them to strangers.
  13. Too bad we're always on the wrong side of the lake!
  14. 30.5cm. I was wondering. I have Power Plates, size 8.5 boots and S/M Nidecker bindings and even when I was at 25/15 I would boot out on the heel side. I subscribed to your videos Ryan and I love them! I also believe that you are really helping out the carving crowd by showing all of the softies out there how it should be done! Maybe they won't switch to hardbooting, but at least they will understand it a bit better and start riding better. Maybe they will also understand that people may cut across the slope because they are carving and that they should watch out for that, "...at some point some ass-hat will run into you..." (I think I paraphrased that from your video on how to carve:).
  15. I am 10 minutes away if someone really wants it and the dude doesn't want to ship it. I have a feeling that they are on this board though.
