  1. This is a great first step. The old equipment still works, but it is now time to upgrade. Lots of gear on this forum for sale, plus much info on set up and riding technique. A free carve/ all mountain board for your weight is probably a good starting point. Others can chime in on past threads about initial binding set up, boots and the like.
  2. Oh you want groomed runs? That’s extra! Coming to a resort near you.
  3. just outside of the lift line coral one skier to the others,”did you see that guy he almost did a 360 around me going back up the trail, like he was surfing .” I just waved
  4. wow, sorry to hear. I hope you are feeling better. Not sure why, but seems like ski areas corral everyone together by the lift areas?
  5. I usually head up to ride right before the snowstorm hits here in the NE. It can sometimes be messy on the roads, but you are rewarded with a nice powder day. Over the years and especially after corporate takeovers of local ski mountains, I am amazed by the lack of terrain that is open? 14 inches of fresh snow should be ridden and packed down! Instead, they try to keep everyone on the same runs, usually ones that have some sort of base I guess? Maybe I am getting old, but I remember skiing and riding when there used to be rocks, marked by orange bamboo pole, and even bare grass spots on runs that were open. Not to mention, removal of the trail and lift status board either at the base or lift line so you can plan your runs? Now they have some App for that! I hate having to take my phone out of my jacket when I am riding.
  6. Make sure you get the step-in Intec/ Fintec for your boots, along with your bindings. Chick magnet!
  7. Slipped on the ice, snow covered, and went down like a tub of shit! Wacked my head as I hit the ground. Luckily had my helmet on. All that wear and tear, and being from the “ just walk it off” school, definitely adds up as we get older!
  8. Terrible. With all modern forms of communication, shutting off the faucet and compressor, should have been done immediately?

    Mount Snow

Just back from 2 days at Mt Snow. Hard pack with some thin spots. Doing their best to resurface with snow making and some fresh natural. Fridays are like the weekend now, too crowded!
  10. Here on the east coast we experienced a normal winter. The old farmers almanac’s prediction for snowfall was accurate. We did not have the freeze thaw cycles from years past, with plenty of natural snow that is always welcome. Some decent powder days early this season, and February being most consistent with weekly accumulations of 3-5 inches. usually ride mid week alone and work on form , but with everyone working remotely, I had my wingmen. Mt Snow’s first year as a Vail resorts mountain, and they seemed to pull it off. Booting up at the car was a bit of a pain and also making reservation for entering lodges, but we got used to it. Do miss the Apre vibe at the bar, and the hot tub being closed was probably the worst part of all! Hope you all enjoyed your winter.
  11. Corey nailed it! If it is in/on media that will influence people. Wouldn’t want to ride without one.
  12. I was thinking the same thing, but didn’t want to make him feel self conscious about it. I thought they looked sharp along with the video!
  13. Trails are a little more crowded during mid week than usual due to remote work. Tuesday through Thursday is your best bet.3-4 hard carves then stop and wait.
  14. Working on closing my “C” shape trenches by getting lower and on edge before the turn.
  15. All true. It starts way before the first turns. Planting the seed, looks like it’s going to be good on Monday, shopping for food, making the chili, picking up everyone, driving fast, rocking out to tunes and finally getting to the mountain. Riding is only part of it, who really cares. Tailgating with bloody Mary’s at 11am and that sweet pain of still being able to do what you love with friends as we mature!
  16. I bought replacement screws adjusters from yyz just Incase they blow apart. I tighten them every morning , who knows where they wind up at the end of the day. I did get new liners, 141 which are really lite and stiff, don’t even lock out the boots now which helps when down weighting.
  17. My boots are so old they automatically cant after the first turn!
  18. Hi Briana, this forum has too much info, and as much as everyone wants to give good advice, your head will be spinning in no time. There are some articles here that are worth a read that might help as well as some really good info on an old web site Carvers Almanac. Welcome
  19. Looking for just one for the front boot? Yellow springs

    Mount Snow

Epic NE conditions right now. Natural base with daily light snows 3-5 inches. Perfect riding for beautiful trenches! Saw two alpine riders on Tuesday, sorry didn’t stop and say hello.
  21. The bottom of the glass where the muddled fruit are, is the best part! I prefer Dewars old fashion. A cinnamon stick is a nice touch as well.

Driving back from VT listening to radio, Glenn Cambell Whitichaw lineman!
  23. I’m sure they will pro rate your pass for next season? Maybe not?
  24. My rear binding has a little bit of outside can’t, if I engage the heel without orienting the boot to allow for it is probably what caused it to break.
  25. Sounds about right. Busted one wing on the intec last season and did not replace. Pins have been holding the load of my “big bone” frame, and they are starting to stick and difficult to engage. Will look into the Fintecs for next season.
